Agile services to help keep our community informed
As early adopters of social media, we developed unique digital marketing strategies for various channels. Our objective was to explain arcane business practices to the masses via transparent, authentic, and socially relevant communication.
Through continuous engagement, we provided real time updates to our community regarding crime, traffic, and safety.
We launched our SPD Blotter crime blog in 2008, a news source that accounts for more web traffic than all other City of Seattle blogs combined.
In 2010, we followed up with online crime mapping. We took this one step further and, as a service, published police reports online.
In 2012, we created Tweets by Beat, an automated program that shared police response information via 51 unique neighborhood Twitter accounts. Tweets by Beat continues to be a favorite among crime reporters and block watch captains.
During my tenure, we partnered twice with Code for America to improve antiquated government systems, allowing for better public services.
The Seattle PD brand continues to maintain a pervasive online presence via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, Nextdoor and Twitch.
